What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a collaborative, goal directed treatment. Together we will work to understand uniqueness of your particular issue, where it came from and what keeps it going.  We then use evidence informed techniques to make changes to help you overcome the problem.  The common problems which I am trained to support people with include:

  • depression
  • generalised anxiety disorder
  • social anxiety disorder
  • panic disorder
  • obsessive compulsive disorder
  • post traumatic stress disorder
  • health anxiety
  • stress
Treatment starts with a 60 minute assessment, followed by 50 minute treatment sessions. The number and frequency of sessions will depend on what we both agree would be best. The recommended maximum number of sessions for a full course of treatment is around twenty in total, but it could also be far less.

Booking therapy

The first step is to get in touch to arrange a 10 minute discussion on the phone free of charge.  We will look at what the basics of your needs are and agree together if CBT is the best treatment for you.

After that we can arrange the time and date of your assessment session as well as if it will be face to face, Skype or telephone. 

The sessions are usually weekly, but we can also talk about what would best suit your needs.  

The nature of CBT means that there will usually be work to do between sessions to better help understand our mood and as well as move more quickly toward your goals.

Face to face

Face to face CBT therapy is offered within the Devon .

  • Monday 9am – 4pm:  £100

Skype / Telephone

Skype video or telephone therapy is offered internationally to English speaking clients.  The rate will depend upon the time of day.

  • Monday 9am – 4pm:  £65
  • Tues – Fri: £75
  • Sat 9am – 5pm: £85

The care and treatment I received from Karim has been invaluable.
Karim was very understanding and helpful. After every session I felt like we had achieved another step forward in reducing my OCD, rituals and anxiety. If I didn't understand something he would try a different approach and this usually resulted in me then understanding what he was trying to show me.
